Feeling the blues - Bracelet ideas with Swarovski elements

News and Site Information. | 28/10/2016
Dorothy has created the Arrow Bracelet and the Chaton Bracelet. Both are boasting simple but very effective design techniques
The latest additions to our Creative Ideas corner are 2 x very unique bracelets. The mind behind these bracelets is famous Scottish designer Dorothy Wood. In her ideas different knotting technique were used, in particular one that creates a square knot. This technique is called Macramé. This is her favourite technique as it is a form of textile making which can be used instead of weaving or knitting when creating jewellery.

For those who do not know, Dorothy Wood is a designer and author who has been working with Swarovski for many years and has become an ambassador to encourage up-and-coming designers to incorporate crystals into their work. Dorothy has been running workshops since 2004 and continues to do so to this day.

The ideas capture the emotion of “feeling the blues” even though they are anything BUT to feel blue about. Dorothy has created the Arrow Bracelet and the Chaton Bracelet. Both are boasting simple but very effective design techniques, perfectly showcasing the Swarovski 5040 Briolette bead, the Swarovski 5748 Arrow Bead and the mesmerizing Swarovski 1088 Xirius Chaton Crystal Royal Blue.

The Arrow Bracelet is a minimalistic yet beautiful idea. This is due to the simplicity of the macramé technique and how it is holding the amazing Swarovski arrow beads in place. They are the centre of this piece and perfectly frame the Swarovski briolette bead.  The Chaton Bracelet, very easily created, consists of three parts – the Chatons, the bracelet setting and the leather cord. The dominant colour in this idea is the vibrant Blue of the magnificent Swarovski Xirius Chaton Crystals which make this jewellery piece truly stand out.
