Shibori silk ribbon midnight forest (10cm)

This exquisite silk ribbon is hand made with an traditional Japanese dyeing technique called Shibori. Sold in 10cm (4 inch) pieces, cut to order, so if you order more it will be sent in one continuous length. The ribbon is made using the Arashi Shibori technique, also called pole-wrapping shibori. The silk is wrapped diagonally around a pole and bound tightly with thread The result is a pleated silk ribbon with a diagonal pattern. "Arashi" is Japanese for “storm”. The ribbon can be ironed flat to reveal the pattern or used pleated. It lends itself to natural flowing shapes in jewellery making.
