The unique deep blue of Lapis Lazuli has been prized for centuries not just in jewellery but also as the pigment called ultramarine. This rock is made up of three minerals; blue lazurite, white calcite and gold pyrite all of which provide the texture and colours characteristic of lapis. The beautiful dark glossy blue of these beads is close to navy and teams well with corals, oranges and golds.
