Now that you have read the list of supplies to immerse yourself in this curls tutorial, you can decide (according to your tastes and/or your experience):
- to use the list as is (to make identical green and gold loops );
- to opt for similar pearls that you already have (for a similar result ) ;
- to incorporate different elements (for a more personal look ).
Jewelry Pliers | The Essential Tool for the Designer
Most of you are probably already equipped.
However, it is important to clarify to anyone starting out in jewelry making that they will need some semblance of materials.
Indeed, if we can manage without certain things, know that jewelry pliers remain a must-have in the tool kit.
Functional jewelry pliers
In the specific case of our green and gold earrings tutorial, you will essentially need:
- flat pliers ;
- of a crushing pliers .
Indeed: 2 pliers which will be very useful for handling and opening the rings.
Because, even if you have small fingers and the manipulations are simple to perform, they are nonetheless delicate .
In fact, only jewelry pliers will allow you to obtain an impeccable result .
Plan B: Getting by
While you wait to be better equipped for this loop tutorial, you can use a tray with small edges and place a piece of fabric on it. We say "small" because edges that are too high would quickly become annoying, even uncomfortable.
Just as with picking up seed beads, an old pair of tweezers will do the job. They will help you test your creative potential and will provide you with the necessary support before you decide on more suitable tools .
Other Equipment for Making
Furthermore, if you enjoy this fun activity and want to improve your working comfort, boxes with bead compartments like a beading mat could prove very useful.
Yes, indeed. Remember that beads and charms are little mischievous creatures that roll and jump around as they please.
That's why a piece of fabric at the bottom of a tray or a small pair of clips found in a drawer at home can be a great help. At least, if you want to avoid having to regularly crawl to find your little ones...
Green and Gold Hoop Earrings Tutorial | Step by Step
The Great Creole Ring
- Gather the jewelry items to make the first loop and place them in front of you.
- Take the creole and start with the beads that will be on the other side, that is to say the 2 small green seed beads.
- Continue with the largest glass beads , then with the other beads up to the central ethnic drop bead.
- Continue inserting the elements by starting again in reverse (like a mirror effect), as in the diagram below.
- Close the hoop using jewelry pliers by inserting the stem into the top ring, then gently folding it back using a second pair of pliers.
The small inner ring
- Take the 12 cm jump ring and open it slightly (jewelry pliers in each hand), until you have a sufficient opening for the beads to pass through.
- Insert the beads : 1 bayong wood bead / 1 golden heishi bead / 1 bayong wood bead.
- Close the ring carefully, still using your jewelry pliers.
- Add the small 3mm jump ring into the 12mm ring.
i-Perles' tips for your earrings tutorial:
Hold the rings firmly without overtightening them (so that the jewelry pliers do not leave marks on the metal).
Always open the rings from front to back and from back to front , not vertically (so as not to deform them).
Assembling the elements on the loop
When your 2 rings are finished :
- Grab one of the hook earrings and gently open the small ring with flat nose pliers.
- Then you just need to put the small connecting ring containing the small inner ring with the 3 pearls. Then, you will thread the small ring from the top of the creole before closing everything with your jewelry pliers.
Repeat the operation for the 2nd loop and there you have it: it's done.
Your pair of Green and Gold Earrings is finished!
And for added security, you can add clear earring stoppers to each hook to secure them behind your ears.
We hope you like your earrings and see you soon on i-Perles for the next TUTORIAL.
