Create a seed bead necklace: easy and creative DIY tutorial

This seed bead necklace with its textured and authentic look is directly inspired by the bohemian style. By layering several strands of seed bead mixes (small seed beads and tubes/bugle beads), you will create a unique piece of jewelry with a fluid drape.

1. Materials

Bead Mixes (TOHO Mix):

TCM41: Dominant shades of brick red, luscious burgundy, and copper highlights.

TCM14: Warm, luminous amber, honey, and gold tones.

TCM13: Sienna, bronze, and chocolate brown shades, enhanced by subtle touches of turquoise blue.

TCM15: Metallic copper tones, deep browns, and matte silver beads.

Elastic stringing thread of your choice:

BE01CL: Transparent/clear nylon thread (for invisible stringing) or BE01BK: Black nylon thread. For a 66cm long necklace, opt for 1 meter of thread.

T30: Fine needle with a large eye to facilitate stringing.

2. Stringing guide and pattern rhythm

The secret to the success of this necklace lies in its structured asymmetry (as can be observed in the laid-out photo):

The texture effect: Do not try to sort the beads. Let the randomness of the mix take over, but make sure to regularly insert a long bead (tube/bugle) after a series of 5 to 8 small round seed beads.

The contrast points: Occasionally slide an isolated silver bead (from the TCM15 mix) or a turquoise bead (from the TCM13 mix) between two copper or amber beads to break the monotony and catch the light.

3. Creation Steps (1 project = 3 solutions)

Step 1: Cutting and preparing the threads

Prepare the materials with a thread cut to the desired length. For a 66 cm long necklace, a 2-strand choker, or a 4-strand bracelet.

Step 2: Temporary blocking

At the end of each thread, place a piece of adhesive tape 7 cm from the edge so that your beads do not slip during the stringing phase.

Step 3: Finishing

Once the strand is strung to the right length:

Gather the threads from the same end, tie a surgeon's knot (double knot), and insert them into a large-hole bead chosen from the mix.

💡 Variant Tip (Short elastic necklace without a clasp)

Tie the strand individually with a tight triple knot, add a touch of glue, and hide the knot inside a bead.
